Thanksgiving 2008 - Layout

I did this one with a template based on a sketch by Cathy Zielske for our Design Your Life class... all photos of my family that I took while we were in South Carolina for Thanksgiving.

The Sunshine Albums Project

I have been farily busy, making albums for the The Sunshine Albums Project!

 

The Sunshine Albums Project is a wonderful opportunity to create an album for a child who is in the hospital facing illness. Many of the children in hospitals are there for cancer treatment. The albums are a way for the children and their families to document their journeys to wellness.  You can find out more about the project here...

I made nine albums for the project.  I cut 12x12 sheets of chipboard into four 6x6 pieces, putting together 12 squares for each book.  I embellished them with patterned paper, stickers, paint, and stamps, and bound them with my Bind It All.  I tried to keep them fairly simple, to allow for the children to write or draw in them and add their photos/memorabilia.

 

Here are the albums I made...

 

 

I mixed brown paint and gold glaze to paint the edges of these two, then used the same with my circle/doodle stamps to add some decoration.

 

 

I painted the edges of these with "plum" paint, then went back over it with glitter paint.  Each has flower stickers inside that coordinate with the flowers on the front.

 

 

Green paint on this one, with white daisy stickers inside.

Red paint and silver glaze on this one; I used the same with star and moon stamps on the inside.

 

 

No paint on this one, and I used some lovely tulip themed stickers to embellish.

 

Each one was fun, but I am glad to have them all done!  :)  I will be traveling on business next week, and needed to get them done and in the mail! 

Acrylic Christmas Album

 

I used acrylic albums to make Christmas gifts for my parents and MIL last year, and I posted photos of one of them on my Flickr page here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/invincible_summer/

I used two-sided patterned paper, so the "back" of a paper showing through the acrylic was still pretty, and usually made a nice background for what I wanted to do on the other side of the page.

I used Xyron to adhere all of the papers and photos - I find that the Xyron adhesive is almost invisible through the acrylic, so it looks great!

I embellished with flowers, rhinestones, and rub-ons.  (Rub-ons applied directly to the acrylic surface.)

I'm a Georgia Voter!

I wanted to do a series of layouts about this election, so this is the second - with some photos from the polls (some signs and the line), and the sticker they gave me after I voted.  :) 

And no, sadly, Georgia does not hand out felt stickers - though they should, wouldn't that would be neat!?  I scanned my sticker, cropped it in a circle, then used an Atomic Cupcake action to turn it into felt!  :)

The layout is based on a sketch by Cathy Zielske for our Design Your Life class at BPS.  I used the Sew Girlie digital kit again, by Tangie Baxter Designs, so that the colors would tie in to the other election layout that I did.  It may be hard to see here, but in the little tag at the top - there's my "suffragette" image again as well.  :)  Love this kit!
